Project Worker
Hours: : 3 days per week (Wednesday, Thursday plus one day flexible)
Salary: £25,000 pro rata
Duration: 1 year fixed term contract
Working pattern: Hybrid remote (office in Southend-on-Sea)
The One Love Project is a charity whose purpose is the relief of poverty and the relief of those in need, by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability and financial hardship, but not exclusively amongst homeless people as well as individuals and families facing food and fuel poverty in Southend on Sea and surrounding areas by the provision of advice, assistance and sign posting services, food, clothing and a safe space.
We are looking for a highly motivated Project Worker. You will be someone with excellent communication and people centred skills, able to build and manage relationships with service users and key players in the community, whilst maintaining a strategic mindset.
You will be supporting the charity’s core deliverables by supporting service delivery such as Wellbeing Wednesday and programme initiatives such as Cadent and Treat the Feet.
Key tasks include:
- Manage the planning and delivery of several of our current initiatives
- Wellbeing Wednesday - ensuring our services users can engage in meaningful activities to develop their confidence, self-worth and other key life skills
- CO2 project in partnership with Cadent and SAVS including engaging and supporting our service users, pre and post surveys are completed
- Energy and food voucher referrals via our foodbank and evening food provisions
- Treat the Feet - ensuring we have attendees, a chaperone for the service, pre and post surveys are completed
- Hello Neighbour – network of donation and collection points for food and clothing items
- Review potential expansion of current service offering
- Volunteer recruitment and engagement
- Expectation to support events for TOLP (including occasional weekends)
- Brand Ambassador for The One Love Project at all times

Person Specification:
- Build relationships and trust with vulnerable people while maintaining professional boundaries (essential)
- Knowledge of Southend and the services available (desirable)
- Knowledge and experience of Safeguarding (desirable)
- Professional and resourceful, with the ability to work independently and part of a team
Key skills:
- Excellent communication skills
- Analysis of audience and reporting data, and identification of continuous improvement tactics
- Experience in managing stakeholder and community relationships
